Collective Worship is legally required to take place every school day and ‘shall be wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian character’ (1988 Education Act).
It is generally accepted that Collective Worship should provide pupils with space for reflection and/or should be evocative and challenging.
At Higher Lane we have daily assemblies which link into the school values, the school calendar, special events, acknowledging different religions, cultures and celebrating being part of Higher Lane. We encourage guest speakers to come into the school to talk to the children and where possible we run parallel events for parents.
Each day in assembly we give the children time to reflect and think.
