Parents' Forum for Parents / Carers of Higher Lane

We are delighted to launch our Parents' Forum for parents and carers at Higher Lane, with the sole purpose of enhancing communication between parents / carers and school.  We recently held our Summer Term Parents' Forum Meeting and the items discussed can be seen here.

Visits by Parents

Parents are most welcome visitors to the school. Individual arrangements to see the Headteacher or any member of the staff may be made by contacting the office and making an appointment.

Family Support Worker

Hello, I am Mrs Nott your Family Support Advisor (FSA). I joined Higher Lane Primary School in March 2008 and was appointed FSA September 2014. I have had the opportunity to teach children as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and run target intervention groups to support children’s educational needs as well as social needs. In addition, I have personal experiences of supporting a child with specific learning difficulties.

My role is to offer support, help and guidance for parents, carers and families who may need support in improving their child’s attendance, behaviour, health issues or simply access information.

There are many more ways in which I may be able to assist, please feel free to contact me. No matter how small your concern, if something is worrying you or your child in school then talk about it, hopefully, we can resolve it.

I am available every morning by telephoning school (0161 766 2005) or just come into school.

Thanks.

Mrs Nott

Care at the Chemist Scheme

Burys Minor Ailment scheme, Care at the Chemist, is available to provide advice and treatment for a number of common conditions (see link). The scheme operates from many community pharmacies in Bury (see link) and is available to patients registered with a Bury GP Practice. Items provided on the scheme will be free to appropriate patients (patients who get help with NHS charges).  The scheme operates on a consultation basis with pharmacy staff and the patient must present in person (including a child with a parent/carer) for assessment.

Headlice

It is important that children are checked on a weekly basis so that any head lice can be dealt with quickly and before they are allowed to spread too far.
